Trip Length: 11 epic days for only $2,495 USD

Build a primary school and nursery | Swim with wild dolphins | Teach English to local children and adults | Empower a women’s co-op | Set sail on the Indian Ocean | Immerse yourself in Maasai culture

Day 1

Trip Commencement: Group arrives in Zanzibar. Spend the night in our Stone Town accommodations, learn about the local culture, and get to know your group!

Day 2

Start the morning learning about the complex and dark history of Zanzibar at the Slave Market Memorial and Museum. Then, head to Kairo village and settle into our accommodations on the beach before orientation and meeting your local host community.

Days 3-10

Typical Day of Zanzibar Volunteer and Adventure Activities: Wake up daily to the sound of waves crashing on the beach. After breakfast, we’ll begin work on our English education and school construction projects around 8:00 am. Volunteer alongside local community members until lunchtime, then relax on the beach for a couple of hours before returning to the project site for the rest of the afternoon. In the late afternoon, we’ll wrap up volunteer work and head out on a variety of adventure and cultural immersion activities before dinner – playing soccer with locals on the beach, taking Swahili language lessons, learning how to weave with the local women, or just chilling in paradise. See below for our dedicated culture and adventure days!

Day 5: Culture Day

Spend the morning touring Stone Town with a local guide. Then, hop on a sailboat and sail to Nakupenda Island for a traditional lunch on the beach before making your way back to town. Continue to explore before dinner before heading back to Kairo underneath a beautiful starry sky.

Day 8: Adventure Day

Depart for the Northeastern tip of the island, take a boat past the break and dive into the Indian Ocean to search for and swim with pods of wild dolphins! We’ll spend the rest of the morning snorkeling Mnemba Atoll and enjoying fresh fruit on the boat. In the afternoon, we’ll have a local BBQ, play volleyball on the beach, and enjoy turquoise waters!

Day 11

All good things must come to an end. Soak up your last few hours in Zanzibar on a Spice Tour before heading to the airport!
