Immerse yourself in Pacific Coastal Culture

Nicaragua Program

12 Days: Jiquilillo • Telica • Laguna De Apoyo

In Nicaragua, journey from black-sand beaches to glowing volcanic craters. Handcraft cheese and tortillas with the local women, restore mangrove forests, and teach English in a rural coastal village. In your free time, surf, paddle-board, learn Spanish, and dive into the heart of Latin American culture. End your trip sandboarding on an active volcano, camping under the stars, and witnessing molten lava at night.

 Nicaragua Itinerary

Trip Length: 12 Days*

*Winter trips are slightly shorter than summer trips due to school/holiday breaks

Day 1

Bienvenidos a Nicaragua

Welcome to your new beachfront home, a small fishing village on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua! Learn how to surf and immerse yourself in this beautiful community with your new local friends for the next week.

Days 2-7

Community Immersion

Wake up each morning to the sound of waves crashing on the beach then begin work on our English education and eco-friendly infrastructure projects. Immerse yourself into the community of Jiquilillo where you will soon feel like family.

Day 8

Turtle Conservation

Support sea turtle conservation through a local hatchery and community leader we’ve partnered with for years. GIVE has helped with the release of over 1,000 baby sea turtles in our time.

Day 9

Volcano Boarding

Climb to the top of Cerro Negro, the youngest and most active volcano in Central America. Feel the tremors and radiating heat atop the volcanic arc before strapping in and gliding across black volcanic sand all the way to the bottom!

Day 10

Crater Camping

Summit Telica Volcano where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean. Spend the night camping like never before – beneath the stars near the rim of a volcano.

Days 11-12

Extinct Volcanic Lake

Wake up on the shore of an ancient volcanic lake! Spend your morning kayaking and chilling out in the clear waters of Laguna De Apollo, formed 23,000 years ago from a volcanic explosion. After lunch, you’ll travel back to Managua for your flight home – or better yet, continue with us on the Costa Rica program!

Voices from the ground

Hear from the locals and leaders who bring GIVE to life:

Megan Mcgill

Education Coordinator

“My GIVE journey started with a green flyer on campus my senior year. I’d always dreamed of teaching abroad, so the second I saw Nicaragua, I was in. Since then, I’ve become the English Education Coordinator for Central America and a lead guide in Nicaragua. What I love most is watching travelers fall in love with this community—seeing real connection spark between cultures, just like it did for me.”

Alvaro Moises Sanches

Lead Guide

“Before GIVE, I worked as a fisherman, a life full of exhaustion and uncertainty. Finding GIVE opened a new path for me, a chance to grow, connect with people from around the world, and support meaningful change in my community. Now, as a lead guide, I get to share my culture, support sustainable projects, and help create powerful experiences. GIVE didn’t just give me a job, it gave me purpose!”

Tanner Jenkins

Lead Guide

“My GIVE journey started in 2023 on a trip to Tanzania that completely shifted my perspective. It sparked a passion for purposeful living and helping others. Now, as a guide in Nicaragua, I’m honored to be part of a community where GIVE’s impact runs deep. The most meaningful part of my role is witnessing travelers grow, reflect, and leave inspired—through connection, positive impact, and stepping into something bigger than themselves.”
