GIVE: Thankful for Education to Reduce Poverty

We at GIVE are thankful for the support, resources, and our volunteers to open educational doors for girls abroad.
Around the world, 31 million girls of primary school age do not attend school. 17 million are expected to never enter school. (UNESCO 2013) Millions of girls around the world are denied an education, even though providing girls with education would have a huge impact on society.
These girls in Tanzania, along with many others, are thankful for GIVE volunteers building them a school and giving them the gift of education. Education is an overlooked opportunity for most girls in the third world. When a girl is able to go to school, she will have the tools to end the cycle of poverty. What could be a better gift? You could be the person girls are thankful for this winter or summer! This weekend take time to look into someone else’s life and learn more about the difference you can make by giving a girl the gift of education.

Half the Sky is a movement to turn oppression into opportunity for women worldwide. What started as a book is now a full-length documentary and T.V. series. Half the Sky’s mission is not only raise awareness of women’s issues, but to also provide concrete steps to fight these problems and empower women.
