Have you ever considered what it means to be a global citizen?
…Or perhaps you have never heard that phrase before and are asking, “What is a global citizen?”
When traveling with GIVE, you’ll come to learn that a global citizen is someone who inspires action, humility, and understanding. It is a lifestyle; a way of viewing the world and the beautiful people that inhabit it.
Understanding global citizenship also means understanding what being an active player on “Team Human” means. This call to action is the backbone of GIVE’s mission. Every staff member, traveler, and community member involved with GIVE puts these words into action. Being a well-rounded global citizen means understanding that we are all citizens of the world. The thing that connects us is our humanity. We should use that to our advantage to create positive change and sustainability rather than damage and division. A global citizen seeks to learn and understand new ways of life and build a community with cultures globally. However, a global citizen is also responsible for defending human rights and working to end suffering and injustice. GIVE plants these seeds in our hearts, but it’s up to us to continue watering our roots of knowledge to bloom into the best global citizens we can be.

After her trip to Tanzania, Samantha founded the Little Guy Foundation, a non-profit empowering individuals to “tell their own stories” through art and self-expression. Now, she’s traveling and creating positive change in communities around the globe.
After traveling & guiding with GIVE for over 5 years, Joey joined an honors program and earned his Master of Public Administration, which landed him a job at the United Nations overseeing the World Food Programme researching actionable steps to build the resilience of local/regional food systems in Africa.
After multiple trips with GIVE, Justin founded the Murph Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to using the power of storytelling and community to amplify global impact and highlight outstanding organizations doing good around the world.
