Carly Jo

Community Engagement Manager

Hi, I’m Carly Jo! My GIVE story began in my late teens, when I volunteered in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Thailand, and Laos. Those experiences pushed me outside my comfort zone, broadened my perspective, and sparked a passion for creating meaningful global experiences for others. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to guide programs in Zanzibar, Hawaiʻi, and Washington State.

Today, I work with faculty and university partners to design and run domestic service-learning and faculty-led programs, connecting academic goals with hands-on service, cultural immersion, and meaningful experiences that shape students’ minds.

One of my favorite parts of this work is watching students’ growth happen in real time. In just a few days, they open their eyes to new perspectives, build meaningful connections, and discover how they can make a positive impact in the world long after the trip ends.

If you’re exploring a faculty-led or immersive experience for your students, stop by our booth. I’d love to hear what you’re hoping to create!

Mike

Academic Partnerships Manager

For me, GIVE has always been about what happens when you get outside your comfort zone and experience a place in a way you never could as a tourist.

I’m Mike, GIVE’s Academic Partnerships Manager and Central America Regional Coordinator. I’ve also had the opportunity to guide programs across Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Thailand, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest, giving me the chance to see firsthand how different destinations, communities, and experiences can impact students in completely different ways.

One of my favorite parts of this work is watching students arrive excited (and sometimes a little nervous!) and leave with new confidence, friendships, perspectives, and a deeper connection to the people and places they’ve experienced.

Now, I get to work with universities to create those opportunities for their students through service, cultural immersion, and adventure. If you’re curious about what a GIVE experience could look like for your students, come find me at our booth. I’d love to hear what you’re looking for and swap some travel stories!
