Langtang Trek

Tibetan Frontier Langtang Add-On

10 Days

Trek through alpine villages in the heart of the Himalayas and leave a positive wake of change. In April 2015, the Langtang Valley was rocked by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, triggering a massive avalanche that destroyed half of a quiet Tibetan community and took 175 lives from the valley. As a responsible traveler, your presence in these communities will empower families to rebuild their homes, businesses and sense of community in the wake of such tragedy. Your journey begins with a three-day trek through a diverse landscape of pine forest, rainforest, rhododendron groves & alpine meadows until you reach the community of Langtang. Here you will immerse yourself in Tibetan culture and support earthquake recovery efforts through responsible tourism practices, before trekking further into the Tibetan Frontier to summit a Himalayan peak!

“In 2015 an earthquake took away half of their village, 174 people from the Langtang community passed away, and people’s lives were turned upside down within minutes. Yet through all the adversity these individuals have been through, they greeted us with open arms and smiles on their face. Langtang accepted us all as family. We are family. We are one. We are all Human.”

Danielle Sapah-Gulian, Langtang Past Volunteer 2018
